Wildhorse Saloon: Music City nightlife with a country twist
Published: Jun 17, 2009
It’s common to find a places to enjoy country music, country cooking or dancing in Nashville. It’s rare to find all three in one location.
The Wildhorse Saloon, Nashville’s popular entertainment venue, sends thousands galloping to the club for country music, dancing and food. Located in the center of Music City’s upbeat nightlife, The Wildhorse aims to entertain throughout the night.
Owned by the same company that began the Opryland Hotel and puts on the Grand Old Opry, the Wildhorse Saloon has become a legend itself, drawing more than 1.5 million annually.
Formerly an old warehouse, the club has 66,000 square feet of space on three levels. The Wildhorse Saloon serves as a tourist attraction, restaurant, bar, concert site, dancehall and even television studio. The venue — and its iconic status as a leading Nashville nightspot — has been involved in more than 4,000 television shows and tapings.
On a typical evening, music pulses from most every opened door of every nightclub on Second Avenue. The Wildhorse is no different, sending country music spilling out into the street.
The venue is sprinkled with statues of horses, and the large dance floor invites both the both accomplished and less-than-graceful participants out for an evening of boot-scootin’ boogeying.
Those looking to hone their country line dancing skills can take free lessons scheduled throughout club hours. Despite its country bonafides, the Wildhorse Saloon has boosted its appeal in recent years by also booking rock acts such as Todd Rundren, Sugar Ray, Loverboy and Styx.
Not in the mood to dance? The Wildhorse Billiards room on the third floor offers 10 pool tables, dart boards and other entertainment. The Wildhorse also features a menu with items such as barbecued ribs and other Southern barbecue favorites, chicken tenders and its famous fried pickles. On concert nights, the menu is limited to items such as burgers, nachos and chicken wings. See the full menu.
The Wildhorse Saloon is available for private parties and has provided off-site catering and services to more than 2,500 parties each year.
The saloon welcomes all ages, but after 10 p.m. those under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult. Cover charges start at 7 p.m. Club hours are 11 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Sunday; 5 p.m.-11:30 p.m. Monday; 11 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-2:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
