Station InnThe Station Inn gives a new meaning to the words ‘dive bar.’ More than just a place to enjoy your favorite beverage, the venue has long been established as one of Nashville’s favorite places to hear bluegrass music. With wooden paneled walls and dated music posters lining the walls, the Station Inn’s quaint, laidback atmosphere invites you in to take a seat and listen to the musical sets that take place on the stage. Though the venue is smaller than some of the other music spots in the city, the closeness of it all makes every musical performance seem like a private concert. There’s no need to dress for an evening out on the town; whether you’re wearing stilettos or tennis shoes, the bluegrass music alone will impress you regardless of whether you’re following the latest clothing trends. Each month, the Station Inn features a list of musical acts that will sure to keep toes tapping and heads nodding all night. Bands such as The Steeldrivers, Nashville Bluegrass Band and The Infamous Stringdusters have taken the stage and built up a following of loyal supporters while playing at the venue. Not only does the venue provide a location for local musicians to perform, you’ll never know who’ll drop by for a guest spot on the stage. Bluegrass can’t be enjoyed on an empty stomach and the venue provides a few options on its menu. Try the pizza, nachos, hotdogs, barbeque, beer and other beverages while you’re there. Admission to all the venue’s produced shows are on a first come, first served basis. So you know what that means: Arrive early if you want to get an up close seat by the stage. Reservations are not taken and tickets are not sold in advance. For higher profile shows, be sure to arrive early because seating may be limited. Station Inn is open seven nights a week with doors opening at 7 p.m. Shows start at 9 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Cover charges vary, ranging from free to $15. Check the calendar for more details on coverage charges. - by Leah M. Caudle , Nashville Reporter for HelloMetro (Click to leave a message) Leah M.
