Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman: 6 weeks of pluckin'

Published: Jun 4, 2009

Bluegrass music lovers take note: There’s a summer series dedicated solely to your kind of performances.

Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman pays homage to bluegrass  with six weeks performances beginning June 25 at the Ryman Auditorium — a national historic landmark where  legendary country musicians have strummed guitars, plucked banjoes and belted throaty ballads since 1942.

Bluegrass has played an important role in the Ryman’s history. The genre made its appearance onstage at the Ryman in December 1945 when musician Earl Scruggs played his five-string banjo.

The bluegrass series will kick off at 7:30  p.m.  Thursday, June 25,  with two group: Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, and with Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper.

In the following weeks there will be performances by Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder; Rhonda Vincent & The Rage; Bobby Osborne & The Rocky Top X-Press; Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys and Jim Lauderdale; The Dan Tyminski Band with Steep Canyon Rangers; Dailey & Vincent and The SteelDrivers

Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling the Ryman’s box office at (800) 745-3000. Pay lots are located within walking distance of the venue.
