Animal Affair: A Taste of the Wild

Published: Sep 17, 2009

There’s a swankier, exotic side to the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere and come Oct. 3, you’ll be invited to experience what nightlife at the zoo has to offer.

At the Animal Affair event, attendees can mingle, sample delicious flavors and enjoy a lighthearted discussion about the love lives of animals. The event kicks off at 6 p.m.

The evening will begin with a stroll into Entry Village and Gibbon Islands for tasty cocktails and exotic tapas from some of Nashville’s area restaurants.

Later, attendees will head into the zoo’s new Jungle Terrace Pavilion for a seated dinner concocted by the zoo’s own catering service, Taste of the Wild. The dinner will feature a four-course meal to wow diners with festive dishes.

Dinner includes guest passports to enjoy the comical behind-the-scenes look at the love lives of animals, courtesy of Miami Metrozoo’s internationally-known Ron Magill. Magill has worked in the zoological field for more than 30 years, appearing in regular segments on CNN, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Today Show, Good Morning America and Sabado Gigante. The program contains adult content, images and artifacts about animal sexual behavior.

The evening will wrap up with a spin on the Patton Family Wild Animal Carousel and dessert and coffee from more of Nashville’s local flavors.

The event is the zoo’s largest fundraiser. Proceeds from the event will go toward educational programs at the zoo, feeding the animals (there are more than 1,300) and other needs. Tickets are $175 per person and $1,750 for a table of 10.
