Flyte World Dining and Wine: world-inspired fusion
Published: Jun 11, 2009
If you're looking to break away from the ordinary bar and grill, Flyte World Dining and Wine will come as a welcome surprise. Fusing together ingredients from all over the globe, this locally owned eatery has something the big chains don't — individuality.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant is chic and industrial. Exposed beams, low lighting and black tablecloths reveal a modern ambiance that's perfect for intimate meals. When weather permits, patio seating is available for those who want to head outside to enjoy the city views along with their entrées.
The upscale décor paves the way to the unorthodox dishes featured on Flyte's diverse menu. Each entrée features distinct exotic flavors that tease the palate.
Rev up your taste buds with one of Flyte's delicious appetizer choices. Short-rib ravioli with house-made ricotta and truffle cream is a tantalizing choice, as is the Socca Crêpe with braised natural beef tenderloin, chick peas and cherry zabaione.
The list of entrées includes favorites such as the Sonoma duck breast, which is served with huckleberry barbeque sauce, zucchini-carrot cake and mushroom gravy; and vegetarian vegetable pasta ribbons with zucchini, Peruvian lentils, Swiss chard, eggplant "meatballs" and a spicy tomato vinaigrette. The menu boasts many more meat, poultry and seafood dishes.
Finish your meal with one of Flyte's amazing desserts. Try house special: curried flan with Garam marsala; apricot gnocchi; mango; cashew and coconut. The strawberry soufflé, made with balsamic vinegar, Sauternes crouton and olive oil ice cream, is also a great option.
The restaurant also offers a Prix Fixe menu, which allows diners to eat a three-course dinner of their choice for $35 per person.
Flyte features a wide variety of eclectic wines for every taste. From French bordeaux to German Reisling and Spanish shiraz, there's sure to be a label to perfectly accompany your menu choices. If you're not sure what kind to choose, don't hesitate to ask the wait-staff: They're wine savvy.
Business dress is requested, and reservations are helpful, especially on busy weekends. While the restaurant's hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., the lounge keeps longer hours: Tuesday through Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 4:30 p.m. to midnight.
