Miro District Food & Drink: Classy food wrapped in Southern hospitality
Published: Nov 4, 2009
Midtown restaurant Miro District Food & Drink provides Nashville foodies a chance to experience a fusion between classy flavors and Southern-style dishes.
In the late 18th century, Nashville and its surrounding region were referred to as the Miro District. Decades later, author Peter Taylor depicted life in Nashville’s Acklen Park neighborhood in his short story “In the Miro District” as a “gentler world…known as the Miro District.”
These days, the tranquil side of Nashville can be found in the dishes that come from the kitchen of Miro District Food & Drink. The food served is inspired by the flavors of the South and the traditions of Tennessee.
Brunch features a variety options and some of those dishes appear on the dinner menu. Those dining earlier in the day can try the Carolina shrimp and grits, veal meatloaf served with garlic mashed potatoes and mushroom demi glace; the Irish oatmeal featuring steel-cut whole grain oats with mascarpone; tenderloin benedict; and lox, cream cheese and star bagel.
Say goodbye to traditional takeout for lunch. At the restaurant, dishes such as chicken scaloppini served with linguini and arugula; the braised rabbit served in red wine with mushrooms, fava beans and dirty brown rice; and the Adelicia sandwich, served with chicken breast, Fontina cheese and tomato chutney aioli make the lunch hour a savory time of the day.
For dinner, the duck confit and sweet potato hash is served with poached eggs and bacon beurre blanc; goat cheese stuffed chicken breast served with garlic mashed potatoes and mushrooms demi glace; moules frites, a dish that features classic bistro mussels and fries.
The restaurant also features a libations menu containing various cocktails and wines of your choosing.
Brunch and lunch hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday; dinner is served 5 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday; 5 pm.-midnight Thursday-Saturday.
