Richard's Louisiana Cafe: bringin' a taste of the bayou to Music City
Published: Apr 28, 2009
Located just a short drive away from downtown Nashville, Richard’s Louisiana’s Café serves authentic Cajun cuisine with live music on the side. The little township of Whites Creek was once home to outlaw Jesse James and his James Gang. Now, Richard’s Louisiana Café joins the likes of other small businesses at the crossroads of Old Hickory and Whites Creek.
Owner Richard Trest opened the doors of his New Orleans inspired eatery back in 2005. Mardi Gras colors and Cajun flare adorn the walls and tables of the restaurant. Trest hopes a dining experience in his café will make you feel as if you’re down on the bayou.
And what could be more reminiscent of New Orleans than free, live music? Every night, Richard’s Louisiana Café plays host to visiting songwriters who perform on stage for the restaurant’s guests.
No cover bands here; Richard’s Café hosts writers and performers with originals songs. And every Sunday, you can enjoy brunch while listening to smooth jazz tunes played by local musicians. Just ten minutes from Nashville’s Music Row, Richard’s Café is a great place to see some of the best up and coming writers on today’s circuit. Here's a complete schedule of upcoming performances.
Richard’s kitchen serves up all the Cajun favorites one would expect in New Orleans. Staples include the jambalaya, red beans and rice, etuoffee, shrimp Creole, and any version of the po-boy that suits your fancy.
Entrees start at just $7 and come with grilled bread and a choice of potatoes, grilled veggies or fried okra. For those with a hearty appetite, try the Muffuleta; a grilled Italian sub with 2lbs of meat, cheese and veggies!
The Sunday brunch menu includes all your favorite dinner items plus breakfast entrees like omelets and beignets. Check here for a complete menu.
