Sarahbeth Purcell was born in
Nashville, Tennessee , where she still resides. Her paintings reflect a very specific attitude Purcell has about art, which is, put quite simply, that artists and the art they make, no matter what the medium, should never have a sense of entitlement. Purcell believes that art should be relevant, accessible and entertaining to all who view it, regardless of their previous experience or knowledge of what “visual art” is defined as. The subject matter, the way Purcell creates her pieces and even prices of Purcell’s visual work reflects this belief.
Sarahbeth is also a successful author, having written two novels, LOVE IS THE DRUG, and THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG, released through Simon & Schuster in 2003 and 2006. She is currently working on a multimedia development deal involving publishing which she is keeping under wraps for now, her photography hobby, as well as many other visual pieces based on her philosophy: the beauty and underlying themes of art always outweighing the commerce and attitude of it.
