Ezell-Harding Christian School Reviews

Our family loved the idea that all three schools were together on one ground. We wanted our children to be stable throughout 12th grade. The elementary school was great! The middle school was a different story. We were verrry disappointed and let down. Many of the teachers were new and the staff were clichish. They did not appear to care our legitimate concerns. We were lied to on several occasions and bullying by certain students was permitted to continue. After heartfelt contemplation, we took our children and dream -- and left!

I echo the sentiments of many of the other reviews. We felt that EHCS was very cliquish and narrow-minded. if your child excells in any subject and your not part of the cliques your child will be ostracized. The principal and teaching staff are not very helpful. They seem to downplay incidents that warrant neccesary attention. Gone

My daughter has been at Ezell from K-5th and I have been extremely happy with the education she is getting there. Regardless of the spiritual background (which she gets from home), I know that my child will definately be ready for college when she graduates. Just look at Ezell's overall ACT scores. There's no better school that compares in tuition costs.

I completely agree with one of the previous reviewers. The school could greatly benefit from diversity. After all these years, the staff is essentially still all white!

We were extremely let down by EHCS and do not wish to encourage anyone who isn't Church of Christ to go there. Teachers in elementary were good, middle school too much of a clique', and high school uncaring. There were a few who were good. After proudly and loudly declaring their love and Christian beliefs, they totally vanished when our child needed them the most. Perfect grades, on time tuition checks, and long hours of parental involvement did not count at all with them. This is a very judgmental school, so be careful. The principal was saying he cared, but never made one single phone call to us ever at a time when he had no clue of what was going on with one of his own student's that he claimed to care about so much.

We sent our child to EHCS for three years before moving from TN. He went to EC, K5 and T1. His grades had always been very good, but I am so glad they had the T1 program available. He simply was not socially ready for first grade. T1 was the best thing we could have done for our son's academic future. He went to first grade at another school and was light years ahead of the rest of his class. We would encourage other parents to send their children to EHCS without any qualms.

We live close to Ezell Harding and was so pleased to send our child to a christian school. This school was not the fit for our child since they tried to place our child in transition 1 even though they stated child was academically ready for 1st gade not socially ready. Ezell Harding would benefit from diversity training.

I'm a grad and parent. Great school, great teachers. We aren't Church of Christ and my children are not discriminated against. In High School, some teachers do push their religious views on the students which is worrisome. As a grad, I was well prepared for college and was able to test out of several college classes to get my degree faster. The Elementary faculty is extremely good with an outstanding principal. Middle School is good, but has room for improvement. The Board of Directors needs to hire teachers based on education, not religion. The school needs more choices in the Fine Arts. Overall, great track record for building charachter and college prep.

We live close to Ezell and decided to send our child there for kindergarten. Academically, I feel that it is a great school. However, I would only send my child there if you are Church of Christ. Don't believe that they 'don't teach doctrine.' My child came home worried about going to hell, which is unnecessary for a five year old. They are drilled about church attendance, and are discriminated against if they are not Church of Christ. Much of it had to do with the teacher, however, it seems to permeate the school at all grade levels. We didn't return. It is well worth the extra money to go to a better private school. Beware of sending your child to kindergarten unless they are six years old, or the school will say they need 'more maturing' and send them to a transitional first grade (extra year of school!)

When we put our son here we were hoping for a more individualized experience which he did not receive this past school year. Discipline in the middle school is inconsistent and directly relates to the experience level of the teacher. Athletics seem to have heightened priority and the athletes are given preferential treatment, even at the middle school level. Apart from that, we have paid private school fees for an experience that is not dissimilar from public school. We will not be back.

I am not a parent; I actually attended Ezell-Harding. It is a good school that challenges you to meet the requirements expected of you. I am truly glad that I attended this school because college has been a breeze-especially math and english. There are also a lot of extracurricular activites. I think this is a very well rounded school, and the president of the school is awesome.

Very strong curriculum, for the most part excellent teahers. Certainly a fine school for college preparation. May overemphasize organized sports by allowing advantages to those involved without concomittant organized intellectual pursuits. Needs much improved art area. Rules regarding discipline and dress code seem to vary with the teacher and year. Particularly troublesome is a current move to discontinue supervised aftercare for older children, one of the schools original strong calling cards for working parents.

My daughter has just finished Kindergarten at Ezell and is reading extremely well, completing math problems with ease and knows all the books of the Bible. She was pushed hard academically and loved every minute of it. Computer classes, music classes, dramatics, and lots of field trips provided a great start to her education. The principal, administrative staff and teachers communicated well and kept us very involved in classroom activities. We look forward to first grade and highly recommend this school based on the experience of our first year.

We have two children at EHCS, a 5th grader and a 7th grader. We are very pleased with their academic progress. Also, we appreciate the school's emphasis on character development. I totally disagree with the previous comments about indoctrination. We are not Church of Christ and have never felt that to be an issue with the staff. We have been extremely pleased with the wonderful biblical principles and scriptures the children have learned and shared with us. The school is challenging and well rounded. The teachers we have encountered are awesome!
