“Lockeland is nestled in a well established older neighborhood. The curriculum is designed to center around Language Arts, including a Story Telling Festival and Spanish (Immersion) taught every day to all the children. This school is preparing most of the children to go on to college, and also practices inclusion for children with disabilities. (We no long have Pre-K, because the school is full of students K-4).”

“We moved our daughter from a private school and Lockeland and were pleased with our decision. Not only do we (and many other students & parents) walk to school each day, but many families stay after school each day so the children can play together while the parents chit-chat. It is a tight-knit school with a fabulous art programs, as well as great Spanish, music and PE programs. The library is second to none and parental involvement is exceptionally high. This is a school that harkens back to the days of neighborhood schools & close communities. My daughter is learning at fast clip and loves it as do we - mainly because we feel invested in the school, the neighborhood and the community.”

“I agree with the other posts, this is a great school. Spanish is taught daily and there are bilingual signs throughout the building. My son has learned how to read and write in Spanish, the 1st grade classes published books in Spanish. And, we had our 2nd Annual Storytelling Festival featuring some bright talented Storytellers from our school.”

“Lockeland Design Center is a wonderful school with a diverse economic and social student population. The school is a language/literature based program that is the best Nashville has to offer. My son absolutely loves reading and going to school. Not only did they have the highest scores in reading, but in math as well. the students have Spanish daily and it is amazing to see what they learn in even Kindergarten. The parent involvement is great and most parent's volunteer in some capacity, whether it's with the PTO, classroom, library, field trips or any other need the school has. We never lack for our parent's to step up and be active. I am so pleased to have this school available for my son to attend. If you are looking for a great public elementary school to send you child to, Lockeland Design Center would be a great choice.”
